Which Side Mirrors?

Im trying to make my MR2 defferent from the rest. How else beside mirrors. Specially since no one seems to bother with mirros. Im stuck between two choice. I have a set of fender mirrors from a KE70 Corolla that are brand new and gathering dust in the garage. Or my friend that drives a AE92 SR5 Corolla was willing to trade me mirrors, because I still have the mirror glass, and his passenger mirror doesnt have the glass.

The fender mirrors are manual adjustment, the AE92 mirrors are electric.

So...

Fender Mirrors:

or

AE92 Mirrors:

Sorry to be the negative nancy, but I don't much care for either option. I don't feel the AW11 is old enough to represent the fender mirrors correctly, and I feel that the AE92 mirrors are too curvy to match the wedge shape of the AW11.

Weren't fender mirrors common in Japan much later than in other parts of the world?

I am with nancy, bret, and fubba. Those F1 style ones could look cool if done right me thinks, but then again those are all the rage now.

Well none of you are any help.

I guess Illl try the AE92 mirrors on and see if I like it, since its a quick modless swap. As for the fender mirrors just look bellow.

The fender mirrors dont look that bad, well on the chop they do because I didnt want to put much time into it, also I didnt remove the mirrors. As for if I were to go with fender mirrors, Id probally just fiberglass up some triangles for the exterior to remove the stock mirrors.

Here's a quick photochop of the fender mirrors.

I don't have problem with the stock mirrors. But, if I had to choose between just those two and considering the fact that you are trying to make your MR2 unique, I would say go with the KE70 corolla mirrors. In the mean time try looking for something with a more angular shape to them to match the body style. Definately not the rounded ones. Oh and be sure and color match them to the car or something. Black is kinda' bleh for custom mirrors.

Black on red looks pretty good though in my e-pinion. Specially since thats already the color scheme of the car. I think doing the mirrors candy apple metallic wouldnt look that good. To much red seems to be a eye sore.

Also dont see many fender mirrors in CO. Although it would suck if it caught on because of me. Im going to have to check the demensions on the base mount though. Originally bought them for MX73 which had a little more sheet metal on the bends.

Stick with something squared and from the era. It'll come out great. Nice to see more people changing out the mirrors.

Well after inspecting my buddies mirrors Ive concluded to go with using my fender mirrors. The AE92 mirrors above are really off a celica, but look like the AE92 which are slightly more boxy looking. But the AE92 ones, the mounting triangle is about 25% larger then the mounting area on the AW11.

As far as when Ill get the fender mirrors on, I dont really know. Just spent $172 dollars on some tickets to Caffeine Music Festival for spring break so Im just trying to make time somewhere.

Ugh need to get some priorities going. Thursday for sure I need to order my valve stem seals, and valve cover gasket, aswell as a new dizzy o-ring, cap, rotor, and fuel filter. Then hopefully I can do mirrors, and new exhaust. Ahhh OLD SEXY 80's CARS are difficult.
