Well about me. I grew up in Ohio, and now moved out here for a job after I graduated from college. My car is 91 MR2 Turbo, Red and 100% stock. I know that is unheard of but I like to AutoX and mod classes get expensive in a hurry. I am a huge motorsport fan, I follow just about everything except NASCAR. My focus is on road racing. Outside of cars, I like to bike and snowboard. I think that about does it. Good to hear from you guys.

Well, if you're down in the Springs, know that there is probably only one or two more events down your way at World Arena (Sun, Jan. 23rd) -

After that, they're all going to be up north at the DIA lot. I am pretty much the only one on this forum that autocrosses (besides Jarod), so if you need more local autox banter, check out our forum at team-apex.net.

OK, that was pretty good. I give it a 8 out of 10.

If you don't have the ability to get up early on a Sunday morning and put around 6-8 hours/$35 towards the endeavor, don't email me about it. Those are the basic requirements.

Well since the weather looks awesome this weekend I would autox. The only thing is the MR2 is broke at the moment. (I fried the AFM) The parts get here on the 20th so maybe if everything is back up and running. What class do you run?

Those requirements are no problem. I just need to have some stuff fixed on the car first. Ive always been intimidated (sp?) by going to autox. I always did drag racing.
This summer I probably will try it, once the car is in better running order.

If you want to run this coming weekend, maybe someone here would loan you a spare AFM (if anyone has one) with a cash deposit or something.
I have run a few seasons in STS, but I have also competed in CSP in my CRX, and my CRX and MR2 are currently only legal for SM2, but this year I will most likely campaign in SM with a motor-swapped '93 Civic hatch.
MR2 turbos are either BS, ASP, or SM2 depending on the level of modification.

I reccomend you go straight to ASP, because you will get it handed to you in BS, no chance against S2K's. (Did they cahnge that yet?) Either way, no mattter which class you are in, you are going to get it handed to you, there is always someone faster, in a better car, with better tires and a better paint job.
Dont go expecting to win, only race against yourself, competeing to beat your last time, and you will have fun.
Hsun, Im afraid I wont be autoXing as uch as Id like to this season, even thoguh there are 10 events at DIA (the only ones I go to), I don't want to go through that many tires, maybe I do, we'll see.
On a final note, autoXing is fun as heck, just dont try to be better than you are, or you will spin or lock up the front wheels and make yourself look like a tool.

If you're on Kuhmo Ecsta MXs, and your MR2 is your daily driver, they're going to wear pretty quickly anyway - you might as well have some fun with them while they're still sticky.
Soft compound tires like MX and Azenis get hard fairly quickly too with sun exposure/UV, so unless you've got them off the car and wrapped up in black garbage bags, you'll get better traction with them this summer than next.

I have them sitting in the garage, the rears are bald, so no more stickynesss. I noticed while daily driving, even while the roads were dry, the car was still swifting around like i was driving on ice. Then I notcied my MX's were bald. Im going to be running either the same tire or parada spec's this summer on the rear.

The Parada Spec 2 is a nice cheap and hard tire for street use but it won't have anywhere near the traction of the Ecsta MX. Traction or long life - you don't get both.
Life is full of compromises.
Sounds like you need a beater/daily driver.
Wanna buy my CRX? :p

I would gtet a daily driver if it was under $500 and i needed it. My car is 95% street car, so that is why I have the bias for economical things, I dont think they make PS's in 245/40 so it looks like I will be with MX's again.

By the way they did bump the S2000 and Porsche Boxter to AS. I think the Z3 might have aslo been moved, but not sure on that one. Translation: BS is wide open this year.
