I thank god for RMMOC.com because MR2oc.com has gone to shit.

check this out...

"Please do not send me emails wanting me to turn on any functions. The only way I will do it is if you become a paid Gold Member.
This membership will only cost you us$10 per year.
Over the next few months Gold Members will also have access o an Image Gallery and a MR2OC.com email address. Aceess to the archives will also be limited to these users (2001 to 2004) Any new features will only be accessable to the Gold members."

Can you guess who that is from? Please do not send me emails wanting me to turn on any functions. The only way I will do it is if you become a paid Gold Member. What is that about.

How much money can it take to make one website run? He gets advertising dollars, and donations. Im all for a person trying to make money, but if thats the case, make it a Pay as you go webiste, you know, make it manditory to subscribe for whatever. Stop begging for money.

Sorry, just another reason I was thinking of selling the car but thanks to rmmoc.com I will stick it out.

I have no idea what Bill's (mr2oc.com owner) financial situation is, but he puts a lot of time into that board. He should make some profit. How much is up to the consumer to decide. That's be beauty of a free-market system.

Welcome, brother. ;)

Welcome, brother. ;)

I get that, and I am all for a free market society. HOWEVER if he is running a charitable or non-profit site (hence the DONATIONS idea) he should not segregate the donors from the non donors.

Example. I like PBS I watch it often. They have donation drives once or twice a year. BUT if I choose not to donate, its not like I dont get to watch less shows than the people who do donate.
Bill does a great job with that site. Keeps it updated, fresh, and (usually) has good moderators. I just think its a little more like a dictatorship rather than a club.

I would not have any issues with MEMBERSHIP DUES. The whole donation word I think is used poorly. Having membership dues required to access the site would be more fair than limiting the non donors and basically treating them like theives.

Dont get me wrong, I know rmmoc.com is a donation site too, however its not crammed down our throats, and moreover its free to anyone to use, donor or not. I appreciate the efforts put into keeping this site running and understand the need for the donations "box" at the bottom of the page.

Back in Maryland I also ran the Maryland MR2 club. Not as nice as this site, but I did it because I had the desire and time. These are just my ramblings, I dont mean to offend anyone and am looking forward to meeting some of you tomorrow.

Just noting the differences.

Oh, I see what you mean. Yes, I agree with you 100%. I think the word "donor" is poorly-used.

I can't be there tomorrow. :( I hope it's a great meet, though! It sounds like it will come together nicely with good attendance. I'm sorry I have to miss it.

so what is that button at the bottom of this page.

I just hit it and "donated" $10.

Sorry I brought him here. It was not my intention to have Bill bring his fight (debate) here.

I regret compairing his site to ours. (explaining that RMMOC was better)

I hope that Bill can leave well enough alone and deal with me either privatley or on his own site (which is the topic of conversation anyway)

Sorry again,

Mike
