Monthly Meets! *Official Thread*

I don't know about you guys, but it seems like we don't get together often enough as a community, IMO.

I was talking to Chris (crispy15) about this yesterday, and we decided to try and put something together every month. It'll probably be small at first, but i think there's potential to eventually bring larger crowds.

The plan is to have a monthly meet on the LAST SUNDAY of every month. Some of us are in Denver, others are in the Springs, some are up North and some are way down South, so i think Denver and Colorado Springs will be ideal for meet spots. We can alternate between the two.

With that said, here's the info about the first meet:

Coming from North, heading South on I-25-

1. Exit N. Academy Blvd. and take a left (South)

Coming from South, heading North on I-25-

1. Exit E. Woodmen Rd. and take a right (East)

I think it's just better to get the ball rolling this way, because i could sit here and ask everyone what days would work out the best, but then we'll never get anything done. This way, dates and spots are already set. If you can show up, great! If not, then there's always next month. Also, this way we don't have to wait a whole year every time to see what everyone's been up to.

I will take responsibility of keeping this thread updated and everything, and there will be NO RAIN DATES set. If the weather is bad the day of; the meet will be canceled hours in advanced, and we'll just stick to our next monthly meet.

Thoughts? Ideas? Hate mail? Death threats?

Yes, that's a great idea... other activities are also to be considered. Each month, we can do something different, and that'll keep things interesting.

Even if it starts off slow, eventually it'll take off and we'll start having a decent turnout.

There is a place called The Island in Aurora where i used to play in a league a few summers ago. It's open to the public as well, so that might be something to consider. I haven't been there in forever... oh, and they do have a full bar in there too!

Naaa... in all reality reguardless of what car Im currently, driving, Im always a "ghost" in the winter... Once spring and summer roll around, and shows and meets are abundant, Ill be around again ;)

BETA is awesome, but it is a little on the tiny side, but the porch is huge, and the sound system is amazing. Go FunktionOne. Last time I was there was May 2008 to see Bad Boy Bill, and the atmosphere is sober worthy. Might be time to break in my girlfriend into the club scene, she's already hooked on the rave scene.

So Im set for the next meet. Got a woofer to make me happy after the hit and run, which in turn makes long drives more enjoyable since Im to lazy to fix my driver side window to roll up all the way.

It isn't quite 100, but at our 2nd Annual MR2 meet a couple years ago we managed to gather just over 40 of the states MR2's ;)

Historic Arkansas River Walk would make a great summer meeting place. Got plenty fo bars, food, and chill spots. And if anyone is interested in getting a felony, I know a great spot to break into that has the best view of the city. Took the girlfriend there and she freaked. Wait we're all guys, nevermind the view of the city. Lets hit the titty bars!!!

Also the Grand Juntion meet I'd be good for too. LOL I got friends and family all over the state. If this was a 4x4 club Id say we could crawl on my grandparents property, but we own low clearance cars, so yea no.

Well we dont have to do it all Touge style. But after the Touge thread, and the idea of a senic route it just sounded funny. If during the summer, this would be better, because we can goto the natural granite water slides.

Touge style? Even though this is no way my fault that that topic came up... I have to agree with DR3AMR2. Specifically, rule one of Touge is: never run it with someone you don't know (here I mean haven't 'driven' with) or on a route you haven't driven a 1,000 times before. Even then it is still a stupid a reckless idea.

Curises are a much better a idea with a larger group or with people you have not driven with before. That being said senic routes are fun as long as the wether and roads are fair. Heck we have more days of sunshine a year than anyone else in the nation. We live in what I would consider a Resort State senic wise. We definately need to take full advantage of it on principle alone, plus the fact that were all members of CO's Greatest Car Club. (Votes for name change to something along lines 'Greatest Car Club') And on the topic of drives, why not plan a cruise down to Durango or Silverton too? If need be I'm sure I could come up with some senic routes for cruises.

You should call, but I believe its 15 minutes or so...

If it's 15 minutes that's a better price than the Track. They charge $35 for 10 minutes although sometimes they'll give out free sessions to big groups.

So far all the ideas sound really good. I say we starting knocking them down one month at a time. Looks like we need a method to decide what event when more than anything right now. So karting for April is the hot topic, and where at? I guess comes down to money. I say try the cheaper route first, then try the other one a different month. Compare experiances of members that go to both for the future. The more fun event stays for the future months. Can we confirm costs or people going to either of these places for April yet?

There's an autocross event the last weekend of April. So should we say Saturday, April 18th? Around 1-2PM? Does this time schedule work for everyone?

O yeah I'll be down for a wager! Lets say 5 dollar/person for a community pot. Winner takes all! We'll go by fastest lap.

The first two laps are usually our slowest time, so I guess it really doesn't matter. :excited:

I do what I can. The 25th might work. Its a Saturday so it shouldn't draw away the autocrossers. Plus if we do it that day I'm more likely to show up. :)
