Last night I was up and around 3:00am I hear my car alarm go off. Right after that, I heard a really quiet stock sounding car take off. I turned the porch light on and looked out the window and didn't see anything. The next day when I was about to head to class, I saw that my driver side door lock cylinder was punch into the door along with a scratch. Of course I filled a police report but now I feel so violated and mad. I'm going to start parking in the garage but I'm sacred something else is going to happen. I can take off my steering wheel with my snap-off hub but this just sucks. :(

Nope, I didn't see the car at all. They drove off almost instantly after the alarm went off. I haven't been parking in the garage because it simply isn't my space. Now my Mom is all cool and letting me park in there until we move to a new place.

Derek, I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm glad they didn't cause to much damage. The little bastards. :flame: Its happen to my car twice. What type of an alarm do you have? Maybe its time to make it a little more sensitive or upgrade and add a perimeter sensor. Thats what I was going to do.

Set up video camera, get footage of vehicle, track them down, use lead pipe to convince them that stealing is bad.

Im very concerned about this myself, now that I have my daily driver parked at home(outside) I’m blocking it in with a work truck at night, im looking at going all out crazy with security on this car! And im not just talking about a alarm system…. That is all I will say…

BTW your going easy just the led pipe! I have a spoon that will make them think twice just looking at a car.

You have two effective anti-theft devices on your vehicle, which is good. The best thing is to park in a place where it doesn't get attention from thieves, which you have already figured out as well. But that's not always an option if you take your car to school, the park & ride, out at night, etc.

Every one of my cars has a fuel or ignition circuit cut-off switch (in additional to an aftermarket alarm system with a starter disable circuit). On some, the toggle switch interrupts the 12+ feed that goes to the ECU (which controls the fuel injection); on two cars I've interrupted the actual power lead that goes to the fuel pump.

If you spend a little time looking at your interior carefully, you can almost always figure out a good spot to hide the toggle switch that is not hard for you to get to on a regular basis. Also, remember that most thieves are not going to be expecting that, and will be working at night, so it won't be that easy to find for them.

It's a $3 mod that if your car is hit might be the difference between your car still being where you left it (even if the wheels or stereo or radar detector are gone) or seeing an empty parking spot.

Sure, it could still be towed, but your average ricer thieves don't have flatbed trucks, and are going to be stumped why the car still won't run after it's been hotwired. More than likely they aren't going to break out a multimeter and stick around to figure out why.

Another thing that makes me mad about theives, their inherent laziness..............:)

ill let him take that, I just want the fastest car on the board;) . no but seriously, they are so lazy it hurts them sometimes. had a 97 civic that got stolen, they stole the motor and the harness among other things. they cut the harness at the firewall. about 3 inches on the otherside of the firewall they could have unplugged the harness making it worth a TON more money. just dont get some of the things th ey do.

You're right; it would have been a lot smarter to keep the harness intact. But having stripped a '94 Integra down to the shell myself, retaining all of the harnesses without cutting them, I can tell you firsthand it's not as easy as you think. It's extremely time consuming. There's no access to the end of that harness you're talking about withour removing the dash, and even then it still takes a good 5-10 minutes to free it.

special ed- I know its not THAT easy to pull the harness out. but with how it was setup, it was simply unplug, cut grommet pull.I did the swap so I remember it, lol. plus when they had the car for a good half week, whats 5-10 minutes for an extra amount of $$

oldster- Im on my third 2. not that many, but ive had acouple other "toys" in the meantime, lol.
