View Full Version : Anybody wanna have a DYNO day meet?

Hey I just wanna rally up some interest to see if anyone wants to have a MR2 Dyno Day Meet before the end of the year? Possibly the weekend before xmas?

I was thinking of using the MAC Autosport facility to do the dyno. The regular price for a dyno over there is $64.95 and I'm sure if we can get a group together they could probably lower their price.
http://www.macautosport.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19&Itemid=35

Is anyone interested? Is there any other dyno places that you guys/gals would recommend instead of MAC. I know this is a short notice especially right before xmas, but it might be fun just to hang out and see the power everyone is producing.

I'm interested but I'd like to see the price go down. I also fly home the 19th and have finals for around four days up until that point.

Import Sport's dyno is better AND the owner is better than Skippy and Nick HANDS DOWN!

Skippy and Nick aren't bad at tuning cars or anything, I just think they are mediocre at best.

I vote import sport

hey chance do you have any more info on import sports and do you know what dyno they are using?

Lol I just thought of something we can have a little pool for the the LOWEST and HIGHEST rwhp MR2! Like everybody pitch in a few bucks just for fun.

^^^ Yeah do you have any updates on that.

So looking at this thing realistically I think that the earliest we can set up a dyno meet would be sometime in January.

I'd like to be able to, but I need to focus on getting my car running again first. Would definately be nice to see how she does with a properly installed timing belt and non jacked up compressor wheel.

I JUST got back to Colorado tonight guys, sorry for the delay.

I will call them tomorrow if I have time, but I REALLY need to know in advance a general date that everyone would want to do this so I can get basic pricing.

I will tell you right now that the pricing will most likely depend on how many people show up, not a flat rate deal. Basically, if he says for 1 car (this is only an example, not exact) it's $100, then assuming 10-15 people show up, he will probably be willing to lower the price-per-pull to accomadate us. Obviously, the more people that show up, the lower the prices CAN be.

Everyone will have to show up at a certain time for the meet up part, then from there, we can try to negotiate price-per-pull with him based on however many people are readily available (meaning both car AND money in hand)

Lets just choose a date then. What about Saturday January 5, 2008?

We can start a list of people willing to go. So just copying and paste and add your name to the list.

Sorry I can't make a Saturday, work. Any pricing should be done on an individual basis, i.e. $20 a pull or whatever, certainly not hourly.

It's up to the owner on how he wants to do it.

Now remember guys, we HAVE to have a certain date and we need to have enough time for the shop to have everything scheduled and open for that date. They are busy and have a business to run outside of dyno pulls so we have to work around their schedule, not so much ours. We also need to push this date back as far as possible so more and more people can hear about it and get on the list!!!

tred
12-19-2007, 12:09 PM
^agree, try to set something up for the end of jan, with that, can we get some info as far as how many pulls we will each get depending on how many cars we have, also the cost lets say per 5ppl 10ppl and i truly dont see more than that, but it would be awsome!!!! :)

True, let me rephrase, I've never seen a group dyno done on a hourly rate.

If we are working around their schedule then when would they be available in Feb.?

He said to not even worry about it until I had a definite number of people coming, crazy asian business men

I'll call him this week and find out what he thinks about 10 cars and maybe we can get more together to help out? (drift guys, supra guys, rx-7 guys, etc?)

There's a group at my school that's setting up a dyno day and it's using a dyno that supports AWD for $25-$30 per car.

Should I find out more info about this shop?

well, i would vote for MAC just cause thats where i got dyno'd almost two years ago when i bought it.

i think it would be interesting to see how its changed :p

oh, i started an event on facebook to hopefully drum up some interest :)

No, the SMT computer makes it difficult to dyno IIRC. I just need to find the thread. Something about half throttle until you're in the right gear, then let'er rip.

I pretty much refuse to go to Mac. Personal reasons but if you guys want to chime in and make some more suggestions, please feel free. I'm not doing everything, and apparently Dzuy fell off the face of the earth so I am guessing he's not either.

Lol where's that lazy homo-erotic Dzuy? Lets find him and kick his ass!!!:chair: Sorry guys I've been really busy lately with school. I just went through this thread and it seems as if people are against MAC and Racing Trenz.... I've personally have experience with both and I can understand why anyone would dislike either side.

So lets say Subar Repair? Isn't that where Damon is tuning people's car at? Should we contact him and see what kind of deals we can get?

actually, im not 100% positive i'll be free to dyno. i just started a second job today, on top of being a kitchen manager and a full time student. so, if you guys want to plan on racing trendz still, then if i can make it, i'll just watch and talk about how my alltrac HAS to be sooooo much faster :p

meh, at least i'll be making some actual income now...
