just blew my motor

hey guys i just blew my motor yesterday i dont know what happend it just started stuttering and the it popped then a lot of smoke from the exhaust then there was no oil on the stick then i took the spark plugs out and there was oil on the pistons i dont know if the is usall for a car that has only 70000 miles on it i hope it isn't i am thinking of getting rid of the car i havent even had it for 4 months and the motor is gone this really sucks is this normal for a mr2 with that many miles any idea what it could be and the oil was on top of all 4 pistons

hey man i just called your shop and i guess you werent in yet i will call back later i got a deal from my freinds shop just wondering if you think it is a good deal he said he could get me a jdm gen2 motor and install it for 2000 thats for turn key just wondering and do you know how much horsepower them come with and is it a real easy swap thanks guys

That sux ass bro. That sounds like a very good price, considering clips start at 2500. That is not normal. I have 154,000 miles on my motor and it still runs like a friggin champ. Going to boost it more once I have a better turbo and exhaust on there.

What were you doing when it happened? how often do you check fluid levels? any high temps on the gauge recently? how much boost are you running again?, you can most likely find the culprit once that motor is out if you want to take the time to pull it apart.

I wouldnt sell the car just because this. they are good cars. sometimes they just werent taken care of before, so you hve to fix what ever problems the previous owners caused. trust me, not always fun, but you get to learn a ton abou t your car, which comes in handy a lot for later modding/fixing, etc.

that price is really good. is that a jdm motor or usdm. make sure its not from an alltrac, that will give you problems.mind saying who the shop is? theres a few competent shops around colorado that could help you out. all depends on what you want to do.

wow, 2000 for everything? i would drive from utah just for that deal, mind saying the shop and if any, some specs on the engine. honestly, ive been looking at doing a swap and that doesnt sound right to me.

the shop is the one that my freind works at it is called japenese automotive and if u call he will give u a higher price this is a freind hook up i will talk to him today to see if he can do it for u for the rest of you guys how many of you might be interested if he can the motor itself is jdm and it is a gen2 motor the one that has 225hp yes there are from mr2 they all come with less then 40000 miles on them. as for what i was doing when the motor blew i was getting on the car in first then it started stuttering and then a pop or back fire then a lot of smoke then all i smelt was burnt oil there was no coolent in the oil i dont think would the hg cause oil to go on all the pistons thanks guys let me know about the swaps they come just long block no transmission but everthing else

In any case, snide comments aside, sorry to hear about your engine problem. Been there, done that.

I melted a hole in a piston and it was not fun, limping home at 25 mph for a several miles with so much smoke coming out the engine compartment I couldn't see out my back window. It was like I was playing that old Spyhunter video game, except this ride just got a lot more expensive than a quarter.

hey guys i just order my new motor and i should be out on saturday night. I talked to my freind and he said he would do the swap for who ever wants it. It is just the motor no drivetrain but that is the price for the j spec motor and the install which is 2000 for everything. Let me know if anyone wants the swap. You have to let me know a week or 2 in advance because he has to get the motor sent from japan. He said he has to have half of the money so he can order the motor then you pay the rest when it is done.
