well, im finally in my home state of utah, afghanistan sucked and they kept extending us but i am finally home.
well, i saw and drove my 2 for the first time since i bought it on ebay. i am in love, except the damn wing. it is definatly aggressive looking with the vielside sides and rear and the bomes front bumper, i found a trd widebody wing and bought it about 6 weeks ago and am now having problems with actually recieving the wing since i think the guy i bought it from is playing games with me. oh well, he said it will be shipped out today but who knows. hopefully i can get more mr2s around here to get more involved with the site and get a utah moc going, i drove it for about 3 hours today all over town and actually didnt see one mr2 which i guess could be a good thing since there isnt 1000 of them driving around.

ill try and get a pick tomorrow of what it looks like right now. this is a pick before i took off the wing (it was stupid), the front air canard (not sure if thats what its called), and i installed diamond clear corners. i got a new stereo system installed today(infinity all around), its got a sub but its not rediculously loud. im putting on an aftermarket steering wheel and a short shifter tomorrow and i think im going to start on the engine in a few days (basics: iridium plugs, advanced timing, and a dyno tune). any comments or helpful hints would help, especially on getting a few more ponies out of the engine.
in my opinion, it looks great wingless, but i am still going to try the trd widebody wing, if and when i get it.

welcome back:thumbu:
I would not go with iridium plugs if I were you. Ive seen them destroy motors when the tips break off inside the cylinder. first things you should do should be routine matinence to make sure everything is up to part. oil change, filter, if the coolant hasnt been changed, thats not always a bad idea all though it takes some time to do. replace plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. make sure the car is good all around, no broken suspension pieces, or clunks from anything, make sure the pads and rotors look good and have plenty of life. after that, id start on the mods. basics for an na motor would be an intake and exhaust. like you said, you can safely advance the timing a bit to get a few more hp. if you are looking at spending alittle more money and getting some more power, if you want to keep it NA, look at a good nitrous kit. or doing some headwork and cams to your motor. if you hvae a ton of money to blow, you could always convert your motor to turbo, but expect to spend a nice amount for parts, and matinence after.

hmm, didnt know that about the iridium plugs, what would you suggest for new plugs? actually, what would you suggest for the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. i guess what im looking for is what brand? ive done an inspection of pretty much everything else and its looking good except the drivers side rear suspension, there is a funny knocking sound when i hit a good sized bump. probably get that checked out soon. im getting the fluids done tomorrow (oil change, transmission fluid, didnt think of coolant but i guess that would be a good idea). there is already an intake, but i dont like it, looks cheap, but i will change that soon. the exhaust is a 3A racing, not sure about that since i have never heard of the brand although it sounds good, has a descent low sound unlike the whining civics i hear alot. everything else on the exhaust though is stock except of course the muffler, ill probably look at a new header soon. ive thought about nitrous but it does have 106.000 miles on it and i would be worried about over doing it and blowing the engine. ive decided when i get my taxes back the beginning of next year i will probably have the engine rebuilt, but i do want to keep in N/A for the most part, no turbo. i have a little money to throw around with it so any more suggestions would help.

OEM Toyota, OEM Toyota, OEM Toyota, and OEM Toyota. Been there, done that. Works just fine for up to 350 whp or so - at that point you might want to upgrade the ignition box and coil.
