Hi guys. I think it's awesome that you all have your own regional forum. Some great cars have come out of the RM area. You guys do good stuff.

Looks like Ken's gotten himself into a little controvercy here. Let me say that I like Ken. That is why I hired him. Even when he and I fought our viscous flame wars I still knew that he would help me if I really needed it. In fact that is what built our bridge to peace. He needed a part for his 5S based stroker and I overnited it to him without even asking. He is a good person and always willing to help someone out with their MR2. He takes time to listen to a customer's needs and answer their concerns. He believes on our products because he knows we don't sell what we don't like. If we think a product is a waste of money we'll tell you.

I TRY to run ATS like I would hope to be treated. Unlike many shops our front door remains locked. Customers enter through the side door, that leads directly into the shop. We dont' mind giving tours of the shop and showing visitors our personal cars or other customer's cars. So if you are even in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area feel free to stop by and visit. Just please be respectful of our time (because another customer is probably paying us to work on their car).

My other hobbies? Well running ATS takes a bunch of time. There isn't that much money in it, so you really have to enjoy it and be willing to put in a lot of extra hours (without getting paid). I spend about 12 hours per day working for ATS. But I'd rather run ATS than work any job I've ever had before so it's OK. Still there are times when I just need to get away so I like:

Jet skis. What can I say, it's HOT in Texas. We have a couple of lakes pretty close to us. One in ~8 minutes from my house. We have several jet skis. Scott and I each have a 2 seater Polaris 785 PRO race skis that will pull nearly 3G's in the water. Scott and I also have Yamaha Superjet stand-up style skis. We are both trying to learn some freestyle tricks. Not much luck so far.

RC airplane. I'm not very good, but I bought an Aerobird Challenger a couple years ago. Luckily I bought mine at a time when they had some defects, so after I crashed the heck out of mine and an unrelated part like the transmitter broke I was able to return it and get a new one. It's an awesome distraction because when the plane is in the air you can't think about anythign else, so it really gets you mind off the stressful stuff.

Ha, I guess that's it. I've got a great wife named Christin. We've been married for 6.5 years now. She loves MR2's and drives our 93T (http://www.atsracing.net/Aaron93MR2.htm) more than I do.

Oh yeah, here is a link to my MR2 (http://www.atsracing.net/Aaron91MR2.htm).

welcome to our little (but growing strong) rmmoc club aaron! you are more then welcome to contribute in any way possible. We are used to bickering on here, just something you cant get away from when people have differences in opinons. as long as we keep it cool (Which everyone here does a great job of) then it all works out in the end.

Welcome to the club. We look forward to any information/contribution you can provide us with. Getting information direct from parts dealers is great.

3 g's? On a jet ski? please prove me wrong, that seems excessive.

http://www.goboatingamerica.com/boattests/DM_article.asp?id=317

That article is from 1997, the 2000 Pro has 145hp. Mine is a 2000. Scott's is a 1997 but has a 2000 motor in it (and a 2000 paint job). I couldn't find the article where the journalist was bitchin' about all the swimming he had to do after the Pro threw him off.

My ski has side lifter wedges that you hook your feet under to keep from being thrown off in corners. Scott's doesn't, if you corner hard on it you can feel it peel you right off the seat.

I'm still amazed how well the V hull and aftermarket sponsons GRIP the water. They are amazing little skis. this summer I had no trouble keeping up with stock 215hp RX-P's and the new Kawasaki STX-15F that has a motor nearly 2x my displacement.

Hi Aaron.

I was under the impression that was your wife's car that she was driving out at kansas (I was the white alltrac with the ARC Top Mount, and my friend Todd was the White Alltrac that beat your wife).

In any case, welcome to our corner.

You mean it wasn't a birthday present?

Her car is a 99 Miata with most of the Flying Miata catalog installed on it, including the FM turbo kit, Turbo Link piggy back ECU, Wilwood front brakes, RX-7 rear brakes, radiator, fans, clutch, flywheel, etc).

Hi Aaron,

Can you do a rebuild on my Greddy TD06? How many TD06 rebuilds have you done? Price estimate and turnaround time? Please reply privately via PM if you don't want to reply publicly.

thanks,

Hsun Chen

ps. The jetskis sound like fun. I have a motorcycle that I'm learning how to ride. I think I can pull at least .3 g's cornering on it - maybe .35 on a good day.

We carry Clutchmasters clutches. I've tried just about every brand out there and these are the most reliable I have found. I can definately put together a group buy, maybe even have CM drop ship the clutches directly to Phoenixr2.

I won't put a hard sell on it. I know that CM clutches are not the cheapest, but if you've done an MR2 clutch job (or paid for one) you know it's a rotten feeling when the clutch fails 2000 miles later.

Stage 1 - GREAT clutch, great price. Drives almost exactly like stock. I have this in my 93T. My wife would daily drive this car if I would let her. Handles 300whp without a problem. Will handle 330whp, but not very well. At that power level if you abuse it it will slip. However it does have a nice metal backing on the friction surface that usually keeps it from further damage, just let it cool off and it is fine.

Stage 2 - skip it.

Stage 3 - Great clutch, kinda pricey. It is said to last forever. Takes a long time to break in though. Power handling is probably mid 350whp level. Driveability is as good as Stage 1. I have not personally tested this clutch.

Stage 4 - This is our most popular clutch. Works great from 300whp up to nearly 500whp on street tires. I think drag radials or slicks will knock it back to the 450whp level. This is a puck style clutch, but is amazingly driveable.

Stage 6 - Twin disc, mega $$ ($1550 for cluthc and flywheel), long break in period

Stage 7 - Ceramic/metal twin disk. For those of us about 500whp this is out best choice. This is was I and ATS_Matt both have. It takes some getting used to, and I am not used to it yet.

Flywheels - I've got a couple of 8 or 9 lb chrome moly pieces from Competition Clutch in stock right now. I'll see what I can do on price depending on how many get ordered.

Thanks,

Aaron

So what are the prices for the stage 4 and is there going to be a flywheel buy with this also?

hope aaron does not mind. these are their posted prices from atsracing.net . not sure if these are good or new or right, just what I found

"Stage 1: up to 300rwhp Price $359

Stage 2: Skip It

Stage 3: up to 350 rwhp Price $499

Stage 4: over 350rwhp Price $499

Clutchmasters Flywheels dramatically improve your driving experience. While they do not add power they do allow your car to rev faster and the engine to respond quicker. Rev matching is much easier with a lighter flywheel. You'll find yourself blipping the throttle at every opportunity. Price: $369"
